This ebook for children begins with a boy inviting us to visit his dad's car collection. The dad narrates the tour of a very interesting collection of vehicles. The first exhibit in the collection is an old taxi cab. The dad explains that he once drove a taxi for a living. The next vehicle is a tow truck because Daddy towed cars for a living when he was young.Daddy no longer drives a car because he is very wealthy and rides in one of his limos. The car collection includes antique cars, hot rods, sports cars, race cars, jeeps and other unique and beautiful vehicles.
The story has a very touching ending when the dad shares the one thing that is more valuable than all the cars combined.
I think the author wrote this book as a "book for boys", but girls will also find this book very entertaining. The colorful 3D illustrations are just amazing. Kids will love the details of these fancy vehicles.
When I worked as a school librarian, children were always asking for dinosaur books and car books. They also liked drawing books. Mr. Gordon has a very good understanding of what kids like to read.
I viewed this ebook on my Kindle 3 (black and white illustrations) and my Kindle for PC Application (color illustrations). The formatting is excellent with a large picture and several lines of text on each page.
The text is written in all capital letters. This is unusual for a children's book but in this case, I think it works. The large text seems to be in balance with the large 3D pictures.
I think the highlight of this book is definitely the 3D illustrations. These pictures look good on the small screen of my Kindle and great on the larger color screen of my PC. This book will probably inspire older children to do some research on the more extravagant vehicles displayed in the book.
I highly recommend this ebook for kids of all ages. It will work as a read-aloud for pre-schoolers and an independent selection for older children.

My Daddy's Cool Car Collection! is a great story for a father to read with his young son and build a bonding experience with a common interest in cars. The second message in the book is much more important because the Daddy tells his son although he likes he cars he loves his son and values the time he spends with his son. It also shows the son that his Daddy has spent time with his Grandfather and Father with a common interest in cars stressing the importance of members of the family spending time together and building memories. The illustrations would delight any young child and his Daddy too!
I purchased My Daddy's Cool Car Collection! as part of an anthology of children's stories for young children by Scott Gordon.
Cute little story and can be read by early readers. My daughter (age 5) enjoys it so I wouldn't say just to read with your son
I have two grandsons whose dad loves cars of all kinds. They are taking after their dad and loved reading this book for fun!
I think that this book is a little weird, but my son loves it. Author is very good and my kids enjoy his books.
Nicely illustrated with bright colors.
Although it did have heartwarming affirmation of love of one's family, something about the book left me discomforted.
Love the artwork and I know my son will love this one. Unfortunately, the transition from checking out the cool car collection to the Message is pretty clunky. But how the dad feels about even such an amazing collection of cars is nothing compared to how he feels about his kid. That's a good sentiment.
Basically it's about a filthy ritch father who's saying that he'd give it all up for his son. Well I don't have problem with that! What I have problem with is right at the beginning of the book.. It pretty much says that being a cab driver or a truck driver isn't enough! My son's both grandfathers were truck drivers all their lives.. Am I supposed teach my son that his grandfathers didn't do enough
with their lives? Or as the author words it "moving up in the world"
No thank you! I'm teaching my son that no matter what profession a person is in or how much money they have we treat them with respect and don't look down on them!!
